Sleeping On Your Back
The benefits: This position is great for balancing body weight and keeping internal organs aligned. However, a pillow should be left under the knees to maintain proper alignment of the back.
This position significantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles and sagging of the chest if you use ortho mattress it would be a great way for your back and health issue. It can also reduce acid and gastric reflux because the back is slightly tilted.
Cons: This is not the best position for snorers. It can aggravate snoring. Sleeping on your back is also not ideal for pregnant women but conversely recommended for infants.
Sleeping On Your Stomach
The benefits: If you have lower back pain, sleeping on your
stomach relieves pressure on the back discs. Sleeping on your stomach could
also reduce blood pressure. However, stronger evidence on this is expected.
Cons: Sleeping on your stomach flattens the natural curve of your lower back and keeps your head turned to one side all night. Unfortunately, this distorts the alignment of the spine at the neck.
This position can also put unnecessary pressure on the nerves and cause some tingling when you wake up.
Sleeping On Your Side
The advantages: Lying on your side in a fetal position with your knees bent and a pillow between your legs would take stress off your back. But what is important in this position is rather the use of the pillow. This keeps your head in a neutral and upright position and does not affect posture.
Sleeping on your left side also tends to reduce heartburn pain. Finally, this is the ideal position for a pregnant woman as it increases the flow of blood and nutrients to your baby!
